Joseph:<\/span><\/p>\n

Am I dreaming again?<\/span><\/p>\n

But this white beard, these long strands of gray hair;<\/span>
\n<\/span>These arms now so feeble, this embrace,<\/span>
\n<\/span>These eyes I dive into, pulling me in deeper;<\/span>
\n<\/span>Father;<\/span>
\n<\/span>Is this really you?<\/span><\/p>\n

These fingers that I stroke, more brittle, and thinner;<\/span>
\n<\/span>This hand that I hold, more creased and weaker;<\/span>
\n<\/span>This face that I dare touch, more lined and paler;<\/span>
\n<\/span>This fragile neck which I cling to so as not to stumble;<\/span>
\n<\/span>This fragile neck, shaking like a bruised reed; Father;<\/span>
\n<\/span>Do you recognize me?<\/span><\/p>\n

Let me gaze into your eyes,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Let me hold you tighter.<\/span>
\n<\/span>Never send me away again, Father,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Never abandon me again.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jacob:<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

My son was but a boy, just starting to grow a beard;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

And this tall, muscular man?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

My son was flabby and pale from reading books and from prayer;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

And this sinewy charioteer, sun-burnt, with these whip-scars on his arm, on his back?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

My son had a coat of many colors, a ready smile,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Long wavy locks of hair which I could not bear to cut;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

And this prince regent, this viceroy in regal attire, his head shaven,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Trembling, sobbing;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But the eyes, these two vortexes pulling me in deeper,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

These two oceans swirling in blues and greens,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

These eyes are your mother\u2019s eyes,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

My son.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Now I can die, Joseph, having seen for myself that you live. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Hear me, Joseph, the Lord is God, the Lord is One. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Hush Joseph, no need to cry anymore, I am here with you,<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

My son.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
