“And he [Jacob] said, ‘My son [Benjamin] will not go down with you, for his brother is dead and he alone is left, and should an accident befall him on the way, then you will have sent my old age down to Sheol in sorrow.”<\/em> (Genesis 42:38)<\/span><\/p>\n

He doesn’t know that Joseph lives, a slave;<\/span>
\n<\/span>How can we tell him Joseph didn’t die?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Father will go in mourning to his grave.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because we laughed when Joseph begged we save<\/span>
\n<\/span>Him from the pit, we hear our father cry.<\/span>
\n<\/span>He doesn’t know that Joseph lives, a slave.<\/span><\/p>\n

Deceit and sin have sealed him in a cave<\/span>
\n<\/span>We dug ourselves; they are the reasons why<\/span>
\n<\/span>Father will go in mourning to his grave. <\/span><\/p>\n

A sea of guilt engulfs us, wave by wave,<\/span>
\n<\/span>When Father grieves he never said good-bye.<\/span>
\n<\/span>He doesn’t know that Joseph lives, a slave.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yet Father doesn’t scream or rage or rave;<\/span>
\n<\/span>Instead, we hear and watch our father sigh.<\/span>
\n<\/span>Father will go in mourning to his grave. <\/span><\/p>\n

Father has grown a beard he will not shave.<\/span>
\n<\/span>How can we tell him that we live a lie?<\/span>
\n<\/span>He doesn’t know that Joseph lives, a slave.<\/span>
