Was it the demon Doubt<\/span>
\n<\/span>Who suddenly jumped on you from behind<\/span>
\n<\/span>And threw you down on the riverbank,<\/span>
\n<\/span>Trying to push your head into the water?<\/span><\/p>\n

Was it the demon Fear<\/span>
\n<\/span>Who wrenched your hip from its socket<\/span>
\n<\/span>As his tentacles squeezed your chest<\/span>
\n<\/span>And his talons clasped your arms?<\/span><\/p>\n

Was it the demon Hate<\/span>
\n<\/span>Who bit your neck with his pointed teeth and fangs<\/span>
\n<\/span>As his claws scratched your cheeks<\/span>
\n<\/span>And ripped the sinew of your leg?<\/span><\/p>\n

Or was it the angel of Knowledge<\/span>
\n<\/span>Who flew to you from her Tree in Eden,<\/span>
\n<\/span>On whose branches she had built her nest,<\/span>
\n<\/span>And whose wings grazed your thigh, leaving you lame?<\/span><\/p>\n

Distant father \u2014 Jacob \u2014<\/span>
\n<\/span>Unafraid to gaze at God, face to face, and live \u2014<\/span>
\n<\/span>Teach me<\/span>
\n<\/span>To be a
