Grandma, how I miss you! I sat at your knee
\n<\/span>telling you my dreams. You
\n<\/span>smiled and nodded knowingly,<\/span><\/p>\n

singing of a land where summer grass is topped with dew \u2013
\n<\/span>you read me Aunt Rivka\u2019s scrolls
\n<\/span>from the land where date palms brush the sky. You knew<\/span><\/p>\n

I loved your lullabies of young men whose souls
\n<\/span>soared to heaven as they sat learning in a tent,
\n<\/span>and your stories how Uncle dug wells \u2013 deep holes \u2013<\/span><\/p>\n

from which water surged, and oases bloomed, and how Aunt went
\n<\/span>and fell off her camel when she saw
\n<\/span>Uncle, like an angel, praying in a field. You spent<\/span><\/p>\n

hours with me as I played with new lambs near the tent door!
\n<\/span>And you consoled me when Leah married the man
\n<\/span>I loved. <\/span>You too will have him, a little patience, dear<\/span><\/em>,<\/em> you said before<\/span><\/p>\n

the morning star appeared. You persuaded Father; you ran
\n<\/span>to my tent that night, held me in your arms and let me cry
\n<\/span>into your embrace as you revealed your plan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Oh Grandma, you consoled me in my barrenness, you hugged me when I\u2019d sigh
\n<\/span>upon hearing that my sister had birthed another boy.
\n<\/span>But Grandma, who will console me now?
