How old was Jacob when he fell in love with Rachel? What was Jacob\u2019s age when he first kissed Rachel and broke into tears? (Genesis 29:11) How many were the years of Jacob\u2019s life when he agreed to serve seven years for Rachel and they seemed to him but a few days because of his love for her? (Genesis 29:20).<\/span><\/p>\n

The answer is not written in this chapter, but it is given in the following chapters of our book.<\/span><\/p>\n

The book of Genesis mentions that Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. (Genesis 41:46) At that time began the seven years of plenty. After the years of plenty began seven years of famine.<\/span><\/p>\n

When Joseph asked his brothers and his father to immigrate to Egypt, he explained to them that \u201cIt is now two years that there has been famine in the land, and there are still five years to come in which there shall be no yield from tilling\u2026 there are yet five years of famine to come\u201d (Genesis 45:6,11). So at that time, Joseph was 39 years old.<\/span><\/p>\n

A few weeks later Jacob went down to Egypt, stood before Pharaoh and said to Pharaoh that the years of his sojourn on earth were one hundred and thirty. (Genesis 47:9) So the year Jacob was 130 years old, his son Joseph was 39 years old.<\/span><\/p>\n

This shows us that 39 years earlier, when Joseph was born, Jacob\u2019s age was 91. Joseph was born almost 20 years after Jacob came to live with his uncle Laban. (Genesis 30:25, 31:38) Thus we see that Jacob met his beloved Rachel for the first time at the age of 71.<\/span><\/p>\n

Seeing his sweetheart Rachel, the young daughter of Laban, gave old Jacob strength to go up and roll the stone off the mouth of the well, and water the flock of his uncle Laban. With the power of love, Jacob spent twenty hard working years in his uncle\u2019s service (Genesis 31:38-40).<\/span><\/p>\n
