Awake, my stomach churns;<\/span><\/p>\n

Will my husband, Abraham,<\/span><\/p>\n

Who vanquished five kings<\/span><\/p>\n

Save me from this king?<\/span><\/p>\n

The royal officers captured me<\/span><\/p>\n

And brought me to their king.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is my sister,\u201d Abraham told the officers,<\/span><\/p>\n

As he had said at Egypt\u2019s gates.<\/span><\/p>\n

(How I hate that line!)<\/span><\/p>\n

If we\u2019re still playing the game<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s My Sister,\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Why did he bother<\/span><\/p>\n

To change my name?<\/span><\/p>\n

Avimelech groans, tosses in his sleep<\/span><\/p>\n

And turns away,<\/span><\/p>\n

His breath no longer on my neck.<\/span><\/p>\n

I lie awake<\/span><\/p>\n

And through the window watch<\/span><\/p>\n

The flat land melt<\/span><\/p>\n

Into the moonless night.<\/span><\/p>\n
