In the verse (Genesis 12:1) \u201cGo forth from your native land and your father\u2019s house\u201d lies the key to dealing with all the pathologies and anomalies that exist within us, among us, and in the society we live in. <\/span>Lech lecha<\/em> <\/span>(meaning \u201cgo forth,” but literally \u201cgo for or to yourself\u201d) \u00a0on your own behalf and for your own benefit. Leave from being close to yourself in the \u201cland\u201d where you are comfortable. Leave from your \u201cbirthplace.\u201d which is the extended family in which you grew up, and from your \u201cfather’s house,\u201d i.e. from everything you knew, and try to take the positive charge and shake off the negative and go – this is for your own benefit, it is for you!<\/span><\/p>\n

If we only make room and listen to opinions that are different from ours, if we open ourselves to someone who is not us and understand that he is one of us, and that he is us, then we can truly take in and accept the other. A shared fate \u00a0that has brought us to live here together, we join together and can influence and change the partnership of our destiny.<\/span><\/p>\n

In saying “Go forth” there is a story of leaving our fixations and habits that are like a weight on our feet. \u00a0\u201cGo forth\u201d is a story of leaving our thoughts that label another person whom we do not know or do not desire to know because he is unlike us and different from us. Abra(ha)m, who was a righteous man, acted very differently from the poor education he received in his father’s house. If each of us makes the journey from our own place to that of the other, we will be worthy of our country, our homeland, and our father’s home, which will be more than ever, ours.<\/span><\/p>\n
