Whenever a rainbow appears in the sky, a kind of Pavlovian response appears in my mind, God’s promise to avoid sweeping collective punishment and not to destroy humanity.<\/span><\/p>\n

The appearance of the rainbow in the sky symbolizes the collective rescue of humanity, and the rainbow\u2019s place in the sky is not coincidental. It is intended to serve humanity as a whole. As great as the joy over the survival of humanity, what about personal salvation?<\/span><\/p>\n

Humanity may not be destroyed, but human beings will disappear one by one into the realm of nothingness. Here are lines, in the words of Omar Khayyim, that Noah should have said, but he remained silent:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCreator of the world, why are we taken for death?<\/span><\/p>\n

If a person is perfect, then you must spare his life.<\/span><\/p>\n

But if he is not perfect in your eyes,<\/span><\/p>\n

Let’s remember who created him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Omar Khayyam was a poet, an astronomer philosopher and mathematician who lived in Persia between 1048-1131. Khayyam was very angry at our status as mortal beings. He used the image of the theater world to describe his resentment of this issue. He believed that we were marionettes whose strings were held by the Creator, and He leads us back and forth on the stage of life and throws us into a box of used toys when we reach the edge of the stage and the end of the play.<\/span><\/p>\n

And perhaps the Persian poet is mistaken? Perhaps, as Martin Buber thought, death is an act of the infinite compassion of the Creator towards us?<\/span><\/p>\n
