An ark, of scarlet
\n<\/span>Round, not square
\n<\/span>Two or three segments within
\n<\/span>Like the seal of a ring, fitted, fair<\/span><\/p>\n

Before the time of the flood, before Noah,
\n<\/span>Created and by the hand of God
\n<\/span>She appears like the sun and then is found hiding
\n<\/span>Rises for a moment and then sets<\/span><\/p>\n

She blossoms like an iris
\n<\/span>Dividing herself in four<\/span><\/p>\n

She raises her head
\n<\/span>And when full
\n<\/span>Lowers herself to the ground<\/span><\/p>\n

Her inhabitants are naked
\n<\/span>But they are not filled
\n<\/span>With the shame of knowledge<\/span><\/p>\n

They embrace desiring body
\n<\/span>to body, to touch, to enjoy<\/span><\/p>\n

Colored like coral
\n<\/span>Without scarlet or dye<\/span><\/p>\n

In the beginning, she was like a first fruit
