But no less, it expresses the opposite disappointment...","content":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can God be sad?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In our chapter, the story of the flood begins: &#8220;The Lord saw how great was man\u2019s wickedness on earth, and how every plan devised by his mind was nothing but evil all the time. And the Lord regretted that He had made man on earth, and His heart was saddened\u201d (Genesis 6:5-6).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Israeli songwriter and author Yonatan Gefen wrote in one of his songs: &#8220;And when she&#8217;s sad, I don\u2019t understand how you can be so sad when you&#8217;re the most beautiful girl in kindergarten.&#8221; And now it turns out that you can be sad even when you are God. Moreover, God is the first ever to become sad. It is hard to blame Him, for there is nothing sadder and more disappointing than human behavior.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many readers find it difficult to come to terms with Divine sadness. The difficulty stems from a deep religious perspective, formulated most distinctly in Jewish thought by Maimonides. \u00a0According to this view, God cannot be sad, nor can God feel or express any other emotion, for God is perfect and omnipotent. God has no body nor is God corporeal. Sadness is a clear sign of weakness, and it stands in sharp contrast to the perfection of God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This verse is liable to disappoint those who believe that God is perfect.
